, former Valencia High standout Jaisa Creps is beginning to make an impact for the Bruins this year.

She is batting Batting has several meanings:

Her former Valencia teammate Ashley Herrera, who joined UCLA with Creps, is having an off year as a returning starting outfielder. Herrera, Valencia's all-time home run leader, is batting just .186 with three home runs in 129 at-bats.

, former Saugus standout Kyla Sullivan, a sophomore pitcher, is 8-2 with a 2.27 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 61 innings. Another former Saugus pitcher, Rutgers senior Christina Gillman, is 5-10 with a 3.78 ERA in 94 innings for a team that is 15-37.

Record-setter: Saugus junior Victoria Kemp n. 1. Kemp this year is batting .321 with 21 RBIs and a league-best 10 stolen bases in 81 at-bats.

Little offense: It hasn't been much of an offensive season in the Foothill League. Heading into the final game, only two players -- Burroughs' Kerry Hodgins and Valencia's Nicole Matson -- are hitting better than .400.

Hodgins, a sophomore, is averaging .410 with one home run and nine RBIs. Matson, a junior, is hitting .407 with four home runs and 16 RBIs.
