 SOCIETY OF CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY
 (SCVIR) ANNUAL MEETING
 WHAT: Innovative, new clinical data to be presented on the non-operative treatment of diseases. Many of the techniques to be presented offer alternatives to surgery. More than 1,000 interventional radiologists from around the world are scheduled to attend. Meeting highlights include:
 -- Salvaging Diseased Limbs with Stents
 -- New Frontiers in the Brain: Treatments for Blocked Blood Vessels, Tumors and Aneurysms
 -- Advances in Treatment of Infertility
 -- Innovations in Drug Administration for Colon Cancer
 Keynote speaker: U.S. Sen. S. George J. Mitchell (D-Maine), Senate majority leader and leading proponent of national healthcare reform. Mitchell is scheduled to address SCVIR members on Monday, April 6, at 10:50 a.m.
 Lectures, state-of-the-art plenary sessions, scientific sessions, workshops, refresher courses and extensive technical exhibits will be featured.
 There will be a full-service press room in the state room. Press registration and information packets will be available at the meeting.
 Interventional radiologists are physicians specializing in treating diseases of the vascular system and organs. Interventional techniques commonly used include angiography, angioplasty, thrombolytic therapy, stent placement and abscess drainage. All are performed with minimal surgery.
