SOCCER ROUNDUP: LILLY REACHES MILESTONES FOR U.S.

Kristine Lilly Kristine Marie Lilly (born July 22, 1971 in New York City) is an American soccer player, who has been a fixture on the U.S. women's national team since 1987 and is currently the captain of the team. She now plays the striker position after playing midfield for most of her career.  scored the opening goal in her record 300th international game Wednesday, leading the U.S. past Norway 3-1 at the Four Nations women's soccer tournament in Guangzhou, China.

The 34-year-old American captain, a U.S. mainstay since she was 16, scored on a 73rd-minute free kick, then set up Shannon Boxx Shannon Leigh Boxx (born on June 29 1977 in Fontana, California) is a defensive midfielder for the United States women's national soccer team.

She attended the University of Notre Dame and played on their 1995 NCAA championship team (along with future national team member
 with a corner kick four minutes later.

``I still have the passion, I still love the game,'' Lilly said. ``I love the feeling of being out there, I love being part of the team, and I love winning. That's what keeps me coming back.''

Abby Wambach Mary Abigail "Abby" Wambach (born June 2, 1980 in Rochester, New York) is an Olympic medalist and professional soccer player. She has been a regular on the US Women's National Team since 2003.  also scored for the U.S. France and China tied 1-1 in the other opener at the annual round-robin event.

Lilly's 105th career goal pulled her even with former teammate Michelle Akers and Italian legend Carolina Morace for third place on the all-time world scoring list. Mia Hamm scored 158 international goals, and Italy's Elisabetta Vignotto netted 107.
