SOCCER ROUNDUP: CHAMINADE ON ITS WAY.

St. Bonaventure got off easier than most first-round opponents of the Chaminade girls' soccer team, but the effect was the same.

Led by two goals from senior forward Kim Taylor, Chaminade of West Hills defeated visiting St. Bonaventure of Ventura 4-0 in Friday's opening round of the Southern Section Division IV playoffs, keeping the Eagles confident in their ability to win a fifth consecutive section title.

Senior forward Tara Donoghue and freshman forward Cassidy Runyon also added goals for second-seeded Chaminade (19-4-2).

The Eagles are used to opening the playoffs by scoring in double figures. Despite a lower scoring game, Friday's contest was equally lopsided lop·sid·ed

Chaminade outshot the Seraphs 23-1. The Eagles were up 3-0 at halftime and used a defense anchored by Lauren Nussbaum, Courtney Hooker, Nasrin Pak and Megan Powers to keep St. Bonaventure from coming anywhere near the goal box. The Seraphs' only shot came in the 55th minute.

Taylor started the Eagles' scoring in the 15th minute. Donoghue scored three minutes "Three Minutes" is the 46th episode of Lost. It is the twenty-second episode of the second season. The episode was directed by Stephen Williams, and written by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. It first aired on May 17, 2006 on ABC.  later and Taylor extended her school single-season and career scoring records by heading in her 27th goal of the season in the 21st minute.

--Etiwanda 3, Valencia 2: It has been a breakthrough season for Valencia, which dethroned seven-time champion Hart to win its first Foothill League title. The Vikings, however, were unable to overcome another hurdle, the first round of the playoffs.

Valencia (19-4-2), which has never advanced to the second round, fell behind 3-0 at halftime of the Southern Section Division I match at home against Etiwanda (17-5-6) and fell short despite a furious second-half surge.

Switching to three attackers in the second half with Courtney Morgan, Jaisa Creps and Jaisa Creps, Valencia cut the deficit to 3-2 in the opening 10 minutes of the second half against the Mt. Baldy baldy, baldy-faced

Sophomore Melanie Ervin took a crossing pass from Creps and freshman Danielle Malkowski scored on a header off a corner kick for Valencia's scoring.

--Arcadia 9, Highland 0: Top seeded Apaches (23-0-3) advanced to the Division I second round with an easy victory over the visiting Bulldogs of Palmdale (12-9-1).

Junior midfielder Shelly Marshall led Arcadia with four goals. Senior midfielder Paula Wizel added a goal and three assists.

Highland didn't have a shot on goal and crossed midfield only five times. Senior goalkeeper Sandra DeLestre had 10 saves.

The Tigers (8-2-1) got goals from four different players and jumped out to a 3-0 lead at the half.

Humberto Hernandez scored in the 10th minute for San Fernando, followed by Miguel Sanchez in the 15th minute and Juan Lopez in the 30th minute as the Tigers had a three-goal halftime lead.

--Reseda 1, Franklin 0: Reseda midfielder Alfredo Ayala scored on a header in the 58th minute of the second half for the only goal of the game to give the Regents a first round playoff victory over Franklin at Reseda.

The play started when Luis Hernandez sent a textbook cross from just outside the goalie box on a free kick to Ayala, who was stationed near the far post. Franklin was briefly energized after the goal but had only one good scoring opportunity the rest of the game.
