In association football, a midfielder is a player whose position of play is midway between the attacking strikers and the defenders (highlighted in blue on the diagram).
 Mike Preis signed a letter of intent to play at the school.

``I wanted to play for Marwan,'' said Preis, who scored 27 goals for Chatsworth last season. Preis began attending clinics put on by Northridge coach Marwan Ass'ad when he was 6 years old.
