Mark Semioli used to sit in front of the television watching Jorge Campos playing goalkeeper and wondering how the little guy was doing it.

``I wondered how good he was,'' said Semioli, who now plays in front of Campos as a defender for the undefeated Galaxy.

``There's a general perception he's kind of lousy, like he's using smoke and mirrors,'' Semioli said. ``He knows what he's doing out there. He has great skills and quickness. It's really unbelievable to see up close.''

Campos, who is 5-feet-9, is famous for coming out of the goal box, often crossing midfield with the ball. It was quite a shock for coach Lothar Osiander.

But after two games, in which Campos has allowed a goal in each, Osiander has decided he might just be able to survive a season of watching his goalkeeper play like more of a forward and act as if he is afraid to use his hands.

``He does make my heart pound faster now and then,'' said Osiander, whose team faces San Jose at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Rose Bowl. ``He does know what he's doing, and he has some fantastic talent - even for us old coaches who never played with their feet in the goal before.''

TV deal: Galaxy president and general manager Danny Villanueva Jr. said Tuesday that he expects a local television package to be announced, perhaps as soon as this weekend.

He said two additional stations have expressed interest in the past 72 hours in televising the Galaxy's remaining seven road games not already being shown on Univision or ESPN. Channel 9 (KCAL) is known to have been negotiating with the team. Villanueva would not identify any of the three stations.

What to expect Villanueva said because of the Los Angeles community's propensity to buy tickets the day of the game, it was difficult to have an accurate read on what the crowd will be for Sunday's game. He did say sales were similar to those before the season opener, which drew 69,255. An estimated 15,000 tickets were bought before the day of the season opener.

Other club officials estimated a crowd of 50,000 for Sunday.

Regardless, Villanueva said the Pasadena Police Department and the Rose Bowl will staff the next two home games ``as they would any other capacity event.'' Officials will reassess staffing of games after the ``crowds level off'' Villanueva said.

He added that officials are urging people to arrive at the game early and that they would announce today plans for shuttles and special MTA lines.

Surprise: When Jose Salcedo's friends in Mexico saw the highlight of his game-winning goal against D.C. United on Saturday, they called him up to congratulate him - sort of.

``They said, `If you can score, I can come and score,' '' said Salcedo, who was goal-less in nine games for Morelia of the Mexican League last season. ``I guarantee after two or three years there are going to be a lot of players from all over who want to come here. It's going to be harder for us, so I don't know if I want them to come.''
