The Sylmar High School Sylmar High School is a public school in the northeast San Fernando Valley in the Sylmar district of Los Angeles, California. Established in the 1950s, it is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District, District 2, and serves more than 3,600 students in grades 9-12.  forward's jersey was wet and muddy, as were parts of his head, legs, arms and hair. Benitez scored once and the No. 3-seeded Spartans (16-1-3) dispatched No. 6 Bell 4-0 in a City Section quarterfinal at Sylmar. Next up is Sylmar's second appearance in the semifinals, Thursday at No. 2 Belmont at 2:45 p.m.

The Spartans haven't been this far in the soccer playoffs in at least 10 years. Coach Manuel Vega Manuel Vega Tamayo (born in Niquero, Cuba) is a righthanded pitcher who plays for Granma of the Cuban National Series. He was also part of the Cuban team at the 2004 Summer Olympics, and there became the first athlete from Granma Province to win an Olympic gold medal[1].  said he asked a Sylmar teacher who coached in the early 1980s and was told the team made one appearance in the semifinals.

Weather did not affect the Spartans, who started to have their way with the Eagles (12-3-5) after both teams played evenly for the opening 20 minutes.

"As soon as we started penetrating from the sides, I knew we were going to win," Vega said.

 strategy paid off in the 38th minute, when Francisco Vasquez went down the right side, drew Bell goalkeeper Carlos Velasquez away from the goal and lobbed a centering pass to Iban Campos Campos (käm`ps), city (1996 pop. 391,299), Rio de Janeiro state, SE Brazil, on the Paraíba River near its mouth. , who scored into a wide-open goal to give Sylmar a 2-0 halftime lead.
