SOCCER: HART'S VICTORY IS FAMILY AFFAIR CANYON COACH LOSES TO DAUGHTER.

Byline: Erik Boal Special to the Daily News

Amanda Ladanyi and her mother, Elise, walked across the field Tuesday at Hart High to offer consolation hugs to Steve Ladanyi - Amanda's father and Elise's husband - after Canyon High's girls' soccer team fell short in its comeback bid in a 3-2 Foothill League loss to the host Indians.

It was a bittersweet bittersweet, name for two unrelated plants, belonging to different families, both fall-fruiting woody vines sometimes cultivated for their decorative scarlet berries.  moment for Steve, Canyon's second-year coach, who watched his daughter score Hart's first goal in the ninth minute and set up the Indians' second goal, by Sarina Coutin, 10 minutes later. Amanda's contributions helped Hart (15-3-0 overall, 2-0-0 Foothill) build an insurmountable 3-0 lead less than 30 minutes into the game en route to snapping Canyon's 22-game league unbeaten streak.

``Thank goodness there's a Canyon booster club A booster club is an organization that is formed to contribute money to an associated club, sports team, or organization. Hart's celebration was nearly three years in the making. The Indians were the last league opponent to defeat Canyon, recording a 2-1 victory on Feb. 11, 2003. Canyon (8-2-3, 1-1-0) went 17-0-5 during the streak, which included its third and fourth consecutive league titles.

``This is a big win for us,'' Hart coach Louis Romero said. ``But it's still one team at a time. First, we beat Valencia for the first time (since 2001) and now Canyon, but we can't get ahead of ourselves.''

Now the Cowboys will have to come from behind in its pursuit for a fifth successive crown. Being able to stop Amanda Ladanyi, Sarina Coutin and Dominique Penaranda will be a focal point focal point

``You can't take anything away from them,'' Steve Ladanyi said. ``They beat us to every single ball in the first half. They passed better. They really stepped up and played well.''

Ladanyi was standing unmarked near the far post and tapped the ball in the back of the net just to make certain the goal was scored, although it was her understanding that the referee had blown the whistle prior to her shot.

Said Steve Ladanyi: ``I thought Amanda played a brilliant first half. She beat our outside midfielders to every ball.''

They paid off in Tuesday's 4-0 victory over Burroughs.

Citing a need to possess the ball better in the midfield, O'Connell moved Alyson Drake forward to join Caitlyn Hollister and Alice Kong, and Jackie Keeley switched from a central defender to an attacking midfielder.

Keeley scored twice and Hollister added a goal for the Vikings (5-7-4, 1-1-0), who play today at Burbank.
