Cuahtemoc Blanco converted a 66th-minute penalty kick as Club America rallied for a 1-1 draw Sunday with visiting Toluca in a crucial Azteca Stadium showdown in the Mexican Primera Division's Torneo Apertura.

Blanco scored his first goal of the season after he was fouled by Emilio Hassan Viades, answering Bruno Marioni's second-minute strike.

Toluca (4-0-2), the only unbeaten Primera team, has surrendered just two goals, an own goal and the penalty kick.

America (2-2-2) climbed to second in Group 3, six points behind Toluca, last year's Apertura champion.
