SOARING ENROLLMENT LIMITS SCHOOL CHOICES.

Surging enrollment has narrowed choices for Conejo Valley Unified School District Conejo Valley Unified School District or CVUSD is a school district in Ventura County. It serves Thousand Oaks, California and its subsections Newbury Park and Westlake Village.  parents during the open enrollment period for the next school year.

Under enrollment caps approved by the district board Thursday night, there is no space in 10 of the district's 18 elementary schools for students from outside the neighborhood attendance areas. Open enrollment also will not be offered at Thousand Oaks High School Thousand Oaks High School is a high school established in 1962 and located in Thousand Oaks, California. It is a California Distinguished School, and offers curriculum at all levels for Thousand Oaks students. The mascot is the lancer.  and in the seventh- and eighth-grades at Colina Middle School Colina Middle School is a public school located in Thousands Oaks, California, United States, part of the Conejo Valley Unified School District. The motto is "Work Hard, Make Friends, and Have Fun."

The school mascot is the Colina Cougar.

The Conejo Valley The Conejo Valley is a region spanning both Southeastern Ventura County and Northwest Los Angeles County in Southern California, United States. It was discovered in 1542 by Spanish explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, and eventually became part of the Rancho El Conejo land grant by  district and others across California are required to give parents a choice of schools under a 3-year-old state law. ``You're not required to make school choice at the expense of people who live in the attendance area,'' Simpson said.

Parents have until May 1 to apply to enroll children in a school outside their neighborhood attendance boundary. If there are more applications than spaces available at a campus, students will be selected in a lottery, Simpson explained.

Open enrollment will not be offered at the following elementary schools: Acacia, Aspen, Banyan, Glenwood, Ladera, Madrona, Meadows, Weathersfield, Westlake Hills and Wildwood Wildwood, city (1990 pop. 4,484), Cape May co., SE N.J., on an island off Cape May; settled 1882, inc. as a city 1911. It has large commercial fisheries and is a popular summer seaside resort with many vintage motels and other buildings from the 1940s–60s. .

Open enrollment is offered in the sixth-grade middle school program at Colina because it is a districtwide choice program, in addition to the three intermediate schools.

Thousand Oaks High School is closed to open enrollment because of a projected increase of some 170 students, which would pack the campus in the heart of Thousand Oaks.

Simpson said the district will add teachers if there is available classroom space for more students at a school.

``We've got pretty significant enrollment pressure right now.''
