BERNARD 1.Byline: Daily News The Flintridge Prep prep (pr  p)v. of La Canada-Flintridge boys' volleyball team had not made it any deeper in the playoffs than the quarterfinals, but it advanced Saturday with a victory over St. Bernard of Playa del Rey. Senior middle blocker Dennis Flynn had 32 kills and 10 blocks to lead Flintridge Prep past St. Bernard with a 25-27, 25-14, 25-20, 31-29 victory in the quarterfinals of the Southern Section Division V playoffs. St. Bernard finished its season at 14-3. Last season Flintridge Prep lost in the quarterfinals to eventual Division V champion Windward of Los Angeles. Fourth-seeded Flintridge Prep (16-8) advances to face top seed Viewpoint of Calabasas (26-0) in the semifinals Wednesday. Viewpoint defeated Flintridge Prep 25-22, 25-18, 25-14 in a nonleague match on April 14. Setter Jeff Russell had 55 assists and senior outside hitter Graham Bradley added 13 kills for Flintridge Prep. |
