SO. SECTION SWIMMING FINALS: BRAGGING RIGHTS O.C., WESTLAKE VILLAGE BIG WINNERS AFTER FRIENDLY COMPETITION AT SWIM FINALS.

Byline: Erik Boal Special to the Daily News

LONG BEACH - By the midway point of Thursday night's Southern Section Div. IV swimming finals, the meet became less of a competition within the respective genders and more a game of ``anything you can do, I can do better'' between the Oaks Christian High of Westlake Village boys' team and the La Reina La Reina (Spanish: "The queen") is a commune of Chile located in Santiago Province, Santiago Metropolitan Region. It consistently ranks in the top five communes with the best quality of life in the Metropolitan Region.  of Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Both teams were well on their way to capturing the first division titles for their programs, but there was a small matter of bragging rights between the Conejo Valley The Conejo Valley is a region spanning both Southeastern Ventura County and Northwest Los Angeles County in Southern California, United States. It was discovered in 1542 by Spanish explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, and eventually became part of the Rancho El Conejo land grant by  powers to see which one would wind up with the most individual titles, relay victories and division records at Belmont Plaza.

The friendly challenge resulted in the some of the most dominant performances in the division's five-year history, as Oaks Christian set five division records - including all three relays - on their way to a division-best 349 points, the third-highest score by a boys' swim and dive team in the 84-year history of the boys' championship meet.

``I expected to make an impression, but not like this,'' said Oaks Christian sophomore Jonnie Pare, who took second in the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 44.3 seconds) and won the 100 butterfly (52.69), one of six victories for Oaks Christian, which posted the largest margin of victory in division history with its triumph over Mark Keppel Dr. Mark Keppel served as County Superintendent of Schools of Los Angeles County from 1902 to 1928.  relay (1:54.26) and 400 free relay (3:42.93) on its way to 251 points, the most ever by a girls' team in division history.

The Regents' 56-point victory was also the largest margin by a girls' team in Div. IV.

``It's one of the best nights of my life,'' said Bibb, who, after defending her title in the 50, won her first crown in the 100 (52.07). ``It's how I imagined it would be. I knew I had won (the 50). But I didn't know I broke the record until I walked to the other side of the pool. I was just happy that I had someone to race. That's why it was the most fun event for me (tonight).''

For Oaks Christian, it was one big celebration from the opening race to the last.

Kevin Nielsen, Nolan Koon, Pare and Adam Corriea - who took third in the 50 free - began the onslaught on the rest of the competition with a division record 1:38.41 in the 200 medley relay. That created a domino effect that saw Nielsen break two individual records in his victories in the 200 individual medley (1:54.28) and the 100 backstroke (52.6).

``We came in knowing that we wanted to go for records,'' said Nielsen, who also led off the record-setting 400 free relay (3:14.1). ``Once we set the record in the medley relay, it just kept flowing from there and eventually it started snowballing Snowballing

In between the two relay records and Nielsen's dominance, Oaks Christian swept the 200 free relays, as senior Lauren Rowlands anchored the Lions girls' team to a come-from-behind victory over Rubidoux of Riverside, 1:44.18 to 1:44.31.

Sophomores Laura DeCesare and Veronica Espino joined Bibb on the two winning relays for La Reina, which received important contributions from Genny Aamoth, Brianna Blanchard, Kirsten Dansey, Marissa Felton and Lisa Wellman on its way to the title.
