SO. SECTION GOLF PRELIMS: LOCALS RULE AT GOLF PLAYOFF OPENER.Byline: Dave Shelburne Staff Writer OXNARD - James Dalthorp III made it look easy when it wasn't. Erik Jarvey took the spectacular route. All three area players accomplished goal No. 1 on Monday - survival in the playoff-opening Northern Regional individual tournament at River Ridge River Ridge is the name of more than one location.
So did 10 other area players in one of the most successful playoff showings in years by local individuals. The grinding was so hard because Dalthorp arrived home at 1 a.m. Monday from Hawaii. ``I was pretty tired coming down 18,'' he said. Fox, whose school - Oakwood of North Hollywood - has no golf team, got into Monday's playoff opener by winning his third consecutive individual playoff qualifier with a bogey- free round of 65. He might have played even better for his final four holes at River Ridge, rallying from the brink of elimination to finish even-par 72 by going 5-under-par in his final four holes. ``I got out there and I was just asleep,'' said Fox, a former state junior champion and national Junior PGA Championship The PGA Championship (often referred to as the U.S. PGA Championship outside of North America) is an annual golf tournament conducted by the Professional Golfers Association of America as part of the PGA Tour. qualifier who four-putted his second green Monday. ``I don't know Don't know (DK, DKed) "Don't know the trade."
