SO LONG FOR A WHILE ... HERE'S TO THE THINGS WE'LL BOTH BE MISSING.Byline: Kimit Muston I have a ritual with my wife. Whenever we get stuck in a slow supermarket checkout line, she blames herself for picking it and I insist it's not her fault, even though I know that actually it is her fault. So late one Saturday night when we stopped in a Ralphs to pick up breakfast and the cashier closed her register and left us and another customer standing in line, my wife quickly began her rendition of ``I pick the line and then the line picks on me'' (available this Christmas on K-Tel records' ``Country Songs of Angst for Urban People''). But upon hearing my wife's refrain, the woman in front of us broke in to insist that it was her fault we were stuck in line, because whatever line she gets into immediately grinds to a halt. So what began as yet another irritant ir·ri·tant adj. Causing irritation, especially physical irritation. n. A source of irritation. irritant, n 1. an agent that causes an irritation or stimulation. 2. of modern life turned into a moment of human harmony. We exchanged checkout line horror stories, we laughed at each other's paranoia. Too soon the cashier returned and we and the lady in front of us parted company forever. But now that I'm leaving town, I guess it's a good time to thank Vanessa Williams for sharing and being such a pleasant person that night. And for looking so darn good without makeup. I'm going to miss that about Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. - the celebrities you meet in everyday life. I saw the American Werewolf werewolf: see lycanthropy. werewolf In European folklore, a man who changes into a wolf at night and devours animals, people, or corpses, returning to human form by day. In London at a Sav-on. I stood behind Ernest Borgnine Ernest Borgnine (born Ermes Effron Borgnino in Hamden, Connecticut on January 24, 1917[1][2] ) is a Golden Globe, BAFTA and Academy Award winning American actor. in the checkout line at the Costco. And one of the munchkins from the ``Wizard of Oz'' once asked me in a deep Brooklyn voice, ``Hey, Bub, where's the nearest mail box?'' I'm going to miss spring in Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region, - it may be the most underrated season in this land without seasons. I will also miss driving up Angeles Crest highway The Angeles Crest Highway is a two-lane (one lane of travel in each direction) segment of California State Route 2 in the United States. The road is 66 miles in length, with its western terminus at the intersection at Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada Flintridge and its eastern . And I will miss the opportunity to drive to the ocean and just stare at it. I'm going to miss the people of this city, the nonfamous folk whose work makes this town work - like the guys who pick up our trash. I get up before dawn most mornings and often would be walking my dog when they arrived. They always smiled when they saw us. They always said ``good morning,'' and asked how we were doing. Who would have ever thought trash collectors would help you start a day pleasantly? I'm going to miss our friends, too, like Debra Christofferson Debra Christofferson is an American actress. Filmography (selected)
2. ago when I first met Debra she was a full-time legal secretary and a part-time actress. Five years ago, she decided to gamble on her amazing talent. Now she's the Bearded Lady A bearded lady or bearded woman is a woman who has a visible beard. These women have long been a phenomenon of legend, curiosity, ridicule, and more recently, political statement and fashion statement. on HBO's ``Carnival,'' and a respected actor. You've probably never heard of Dennis unless you know the First Stage theater group in Hollywood, but Dennis is the most talented playwright I've ever met. I'm going to miss watching City Hall. The politicians in this town have certainly been entertaining over the last 20 years - if you could forget that they were playing with taxpayer money. I will be following the current investigations of Mayor James Hahn For the Iowa politician, see . James Kenneth "Jim" Hahn (born July 3, 1950) is an American politician from the Democratic Party. He was the Deputy City Attorney (1975-1979), City Controller (1981-1985), City Attorney (1985-2001) and Mayor of Los Angeles, California and his various appointees with interest. This is another opportunity to let some light into the dungeons Dungeons may refer to:
tr.v. mis·di·rect·ed, mis·di·rect·ing, mis·di·rects 1. To aim (a blow or projectile, for example) badly. 2. To give wrong instructions or directions to. 3. anybody trying to get a straight answer to a simple question that City Hall simply doesn't choose to answer. I'm also going to miss the folks at the Daily News who loaned me the soapbox I've been pontificating from for the last six years. There were times they insisted upon editing my pearls of wisdom, when they just didn't seem to understand what a brilliant writer I was. But there were many more times when they saved me from looking and sounding like a complete and total idiot. Here's my advice: If you want to be known as a wise man, first get a good editor. At the Daily News I had two or three. And finally I will most certainly miss you, dear readers. You gave me the privilege of representing you to City Hall. I got many of my topics from you. Your chiding and your praise were my reward. Thank you for the last six years. Maybe we can do it again some time.
