``We're on our fifth snowball fight,'' said Amber Arnold, 15, of Manuel Arts High School in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. . ``Being from Los Angeles and being able to toss a couple around, it's just awesome.''

Most of the students had heard of snow, but never had an opportunity to play in the white wonder.

``I wish it was really snowing with snow everywhere,'' said Andres Gomez, 10, of Arleta. ``This is the first time I've ever touched real snow.''

Gomez along with friends and classmates Classmates can refer to either:

, Edwardo Vasquez, 10; Isabel Quirarte, 10 and Alex Vasquez, 8; were having fun building a snowman, but trying to make it stand in the warm temperatures became a challenge.

``We're trying to make a round body and round head,'' said Edwardo, who came prepared for the ice with a snowflake jacket, hat and warm gloves. ``It's really cold but fun.''

As they worked, they couldn't resist sneaking a taste of the icy treat.

``Snow tastes good,'' Alex said. ``Even though it's cold, it's fun.''

Before heading to the snowman making area, Freddy Rosas, 10, and classmate Jimmy Avelar, 11, said they visited the snow sledding area on the ranch hillsides and participated in rides along the slippery slopes 'slippery slope' Medical ethics An ethical continuum or 'slope,' the impact of which has been incompletely explored, and which itself raises moral questions that are even more on the ethical 'edge' than the original issue .

In addition to playing with winter's wonder, students also participated in a Christmas carol contest, taking photos with Santa, holiday-theme arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. The students also enjoyed a hotdog lunch.

The Woodcraft Rangers organization offers after-school and camp programs to needy communities hoping to promote healthy youth development and provide enrichment programs.

While the Woodcraft Rangers program has taken students to play in the snow, they decided this year to bring snow to the camp, making their own Winter Wonderland.

``We could do a lot more here than just play in the snow for a day,'' said Cathie Mostovoy, chief executive officer of Woodcraft Rangers. ``We wanted to do something different.''

Mostovoy said some of the students come from poorer communities, don't have an opportunity to freely play outside and may have never seen snow before.

``We take it for granted that we can get in a car and go to the snow, but it's not a reality for the students we serve,'' Mostovoy said. ``Many of the students are putting the snow in their bags, hoping to take it home.''
