SNOHOMISH COUNTY PUD PROVIDES BOEING ENERGY INCENTIVE
EVERETT, Wash., June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Snohomish County

Public Utility District (PUD) today made a $310,000 incentive payment to the Everett Division of Boeing Commercial Airplane Group in recognition of its implementation of energy-saving initiatives in two new office buildings at the Snohomish County site, Boeing announced.
Everett Division Facilities Director Ral Rutkowski said that Boeing is participating in the Bonneville Power Administration's Energy Smart Design program, which is locally administered by Snohomish County PUD.
"Energy Smart Design is intended to improve the electrical efficiency of new and existing industrial and commercial buildings," Rutkowski explained. "The program provides financial and design assistance to offset the additional incremental costs associated with implementing energy-efficient measures.
"By taking advantage of the Energy Smart Design program, the Everett Division was able to build an energy-efficient facility that exceeds the Washington State Energy Code," Rutkowski said.
As part of the program, the twin office towers will employ the use of superefficient lighting, reducing their annual electrical consumption by nearly 1.5 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year. According to Snohomish County PUD, that will save the utility power equivalent to that consumed by 90 electrically heated homes.
"This is a terrific example of The Boeing Co.'s commitment to the communities where its employees live and work," said Everett Division Vice President and General Manager Jim Johnson. "Using programs such as Energy Smart Design, we will achieve our goal of reduced energy consumption and operating costs while improving the regional energy deficit and the environment in which we live."
Employees working on the 747, 767 and 777 wide-body jetliners will occupy the buildings beginning this fall.
