Sustec GSP China Technology Co. Ltd., a joint venture between Siemens Fuel Gasification Technology AG and SNCG, is the only license keeper of GSP technology in China. Based in Ningxia, western China, the SNCG's 830 000 t/a Coal-based DME Phase I Engineering Project is expected to produce 210 000 tons coal-based DME with 600 000 tons methanol per year. With an approximate investment of RMB RMB Right Mouse Button RMB Regional Management Board (USACE) RMB Rolf Maier Bode (musician, band) RMB Ren Min Bi (currency of People's Republic of China) 3 billion, the annual coal consumption will be 1. 87 million tons. This project will be further expanded to achieve an annual capacity of 830 000 t/a DME in the future. With a total investment of RMB13 billion, the NCPP project is expected to achieve an annual capacity of 520 000 tons of polypropylene, 220 000 tons of gasoline and liquid fuels as by-products. The annual coal consumption will be 5 million tons. It is the biggest coal-chemical project of SNCG at present in terms of construction size. It is also one of the biggest coal-based propylene projects worldwide with leading suppliers selected to provide key technology and production equipment. Headquartered in Yinchuan city of Ningxia Autonomous Region, SNCG has been leveraging the abundant coal resources and developing itself into a modern energy conglomerate, covering coal mining, conversion and deep processing. The group has taken over the critical tasks of developing all projects of the Eastern Ningxia coal & coal chemical base, as well as part of the power plants of the electricity production base. So far Shenhua has received the governments' approval to five of its coal chemical projects, which are the coal-to-methanol (250 000 t/a), the coal-to-DME (830 000 t/a), the coal-to-olefin (520 000 t/a) and the two coal-to-oil (3.2 million t/a each) projects. Total investment of these five projects is around RMB100 billion, and the development progress is leading in China.
