He attended Montgomery Bell Academy and then Vanderbilt University, where he was a Kappa Alpha, and won the U.S. was on the putting green Saturday when he ran into Tiger Woods Woods had him at ``hello.'' The giddy Snedeker was thrilled Woods knew him by name. First name, anyway. Not that Snedeker will be playing with Woods in today's final round. As part of the Buick Invitational's final group, Snedeker will actually play behind Woods. It should be interesting to see what's more intimidating for the rookie: playing with Woods or behind the throng that accompanies him. Snedeker sprayed the ball around Saturday, but his third- round 2-over- par 74 was good enough to be the co-leader going into in today's final round. Snedeker had a wild round, with sevenbogeys and five birdies. Woods is in a familiar place, just twoshots behind after a 3-under 69. He attended Fresno State University and made the golf team as a walk-on freshman. birdied the 18th hole to bump Woods out of the final group, so Sutherland will join Australian Andrew Buckle Andrew Nicholas Buckle (24 September 1982) is an Australian professional golfer. Buckle was born in Brisbane, Queensland. He has a promising amateur career, including two wins in the Boy's 15-17 division at the World Junior Golf Championships and one Australian Amateur and Snedeker in the last group. ``I need to send (Sutherland) a thank-you note,'' Snedeker said. ``That's very nice of him. But no matter what anybody says, I would love to play in the last group with Tiger. I think that's where everybody wants to be. But as a rookie, I'm kind of glad the way it worked out, you know. Like it a lot.'' The final group is more a collection of Who's That rather than Who's Whos. Buckle shot a 4-under 68 to pull into a tie with Snedeker; Sutherland is one shot back. He doesn't know much about Buckle and Snedeker, but he's well aware the rookies caught a break by getting paired with him instead of Woods. ``There's a big difference,'' Sutherland said. ``I'm not going to fool myself.'' Woods shot a 3-under-69 and finished with 11 consecutive pars. He missed a 5-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole that would have put him in the final group. Woods has won the tournament four times, including the past two years. ``I've got to make some birdies,'' Woods said. ``I've got to go out and get it.'' Snedeker's girlfriend and brother wanted to travel from Nashville, Tenn., to watch him play. But being a bit superstitious su·per·sti·tious adj. 1. Inclined to believe in superstition. 2. Much of that was the result of tearing up the North Course with a 61 on Thursday. He has led all three rounds. But Woods wasn't playing in that tournament. ``I knew Tiger was playing well because I could hear people saying, `Tiger is coming after you,''' Snedeker said. ``I expected that. I expect him to shoot 4- or 5-under (today). It's going to take a low one, and if I can play well, I can do it.'' Snedeker holed out from a sandtrap on No. 5, then bogeyed the next three holes. He got into trouble on just about every hole, but hit six fairways -- the most all week. It even took him twoshots to get out of a right-side bunker on the seventh hole. On the 18th, he missed a 6-foot putt for the outright lead. But it's Snedeker's masterful putting that has given him a chance to win the $918,000 first-place check. ``I get a front-row seat to watch the best player in the world playing right in front of me,'' Snedeker said of Woods. ``I think that's a great scenario, but once I put the ball in the ground, it's my turn.
