The Vietnam-Canada Environment Project (VCEP VCEP Vanguard Charitable Endowment Program

) is a four-year initiative that will build Vietnam's capacity to respond to environmental challenges posed by the country's rapid economic growth and social development. The project will focus on three areas: environmental planning and monitoring, urban and industrial pollution and environmental impact assessment.

The project will be carried out by a Canadian-Vietnamese team consisting of Canadian experts from SNC-Lavalin's Environment Division and ESSA Technologies, as well as a number of Vietnamese professionals and technicians. An initial mission will take place in January to prepare an execution plan and to finalize objectives and activities for the first year.

ESSA Technologies, founded in 1979, has provided expertise in integrated environmental and resource management for clients throughout Southeast Asia, Europe, Canada and the United States The United States and Canada share a unique legal relationship. U.S. law looks northward with a mixture of optimism and cooperation, viewing Canada as an integral part of U.S. economic and environmental policy. . It has completed 17 projects in Vietnam since 1989 and has a permanent office in Hanoi.
