SNARC enhanced to make ITXC.net SS7/C7 accessible on carrier premises worldwide. (Breaking News).

The ITXC (Internet Telephony Exchange Carrier Corporation, Princeton, NJ, www.itxc.com) The largest IP exchange carrier in the world. ITXC was acquired by wholesale telco provider Teleglobe Bermuda Ltd. in 2004 and then by Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd.  Corp., a U.S.-based global carrier dedicated exclusively to carrying voice and fax calls on behalf of other carriers, has announced its SNARC platform has been enhanced to support SS7/C7 signaling on the premises of carriers worldwide. S57 means both faster call completion and a higher percentage of complete calls than are possible with other forms of switch signaling. ITXC invented the SNARC in 1999 to help its carrier customers eliminate the costs and delays associated with provisioning back-haul lines to major switching centers worldwide, as is done in traditional telephony. Carriers who co-locate ITXC-provided SNARCs at their local switches invest little capital to conned to ITXC's global network, ITXC.net. Over a billion minutes of traffic have originated or terminated on ITXC SNARCs since they were introduced. Until recently, however, only carriers connected at ITXC SuperPoPs in New Jersey, Los Angeles and London could take advantage of both the Internet and SS7 signaling. With this announcemen t, ITXC can provide an SS7 or C7 solution at carrier switches almost anywhere in the world. The result is very fast call completion as there are no intermediate switches on ITXC.net. SNARCs are preconfigured Set up ahead of time. SS7 SNARCs include IP telephony gateways from either VocalTec or Cisco, as well as proprietary ITXC software for monitoring, routing and remote control. All monitoring, maintaining and upgrading of SNARCs is done remotely by ITXC from its network operations center See NOC.
