SMSC Announces Comprehensive BIOS Support from American Megatrends, Inc. for VictoryBX-66 Chipset.

Standard Microsystems Corporation (SMSC) today announced the availability of broad BIOS support for its VictoryBX-66 Chipset and Victory66 I/O Controller. American Megatrends, Inc. (AMI) has ported its industry leading BIOS products to support the SMSC VictoryBX-66 Chipset for mobile PC, desktop PC, and embedded applications.

In a separate release issued today, SMSC announced the availability of production samples of its VictoryBX-66 Chipset and Victory66 I/O Controller targeted for mobile and desktop PC and embedded systems applications. The VictoryBX-66 Chipset is a two-chip set comprised of SMSC's value added Victory66 SLC90E66 I/O Controller and Intel(R)'s FW82443BX (440BX) Memory Controller. The Victory66 I/O Controller is pin and register compatible with the Intel 82371EB (PIIX4E) I/O Controller, allowing a drop-in replacement to existing designs and resulting in an extended product life cycle.
