Brian O'Halloran, the star of Kevin Smith's directing debut ``Clerks'' and not much since, plays the clown. Johnson, also a Smith crony, appears as the clown's best friend. Smith's usual director of photography, David Klein David Klein may refer to:

  • Dave Klein, cinematographer
, shot ``Vulgar,'' and his lighting and framing here will enhance his reputation as not much of a cinematographer.

Smith himself was an executive producer of this film, and he appears as a television producer in the movie's worst performance - which is quite remarkable, since Johnson's unfocused un·fo·cused also un·fo·cussed

 direction and unspeakable dialogue makes everybody look awful.

Unspeakable, of course, barely begins to describe the plot and its complications. ``Vulgar'' is too optimistic a title.
