SMC buckles under once again.

Toronto--The spring 2004 issue of St. Michael's College's glossy Alumni Bulletin Double Blue hailed Alumnus Paul Martin as Canada's new Prime Minister. Instead of being embarrassed about a politician who defends abortion, human embryo-stem-cell research, sexual orientation in the Hate Crimes Act, and homogamy ho·mog·a·my
n.
Reproduction within a group that perpetuates qualities or traits that distinguish the group from a larger group of which it is part. Also called inbreeding.
("same-sex marriage"), it records his youthful days at the College with pride. Further on, it lists the "marriage" of two women graduates to one another.

The collegial environment now seems firmly pro-"gay." As the editor of Double Blue, Kathleen Ancker, explained upon receiving complaints, the magazine had no choice but to comply because a lawyer told her that "not to do so would infringe on the Ontario Human Rights Code The Ontario Human Rights Code is a provincial law in the province of Ontario, Canada that gives all citizens of the province equal rights and opportunities without discrimination in specific areas such as jobs, housing and services. " (LifesiteNews, May 5). Never mind that homogamy is not (yet) Canadian law. Never mind that Catholics should stand their ground and refuse to buckle under.

One supposes that the same attitude of easy surrender enabled two members of "Queer at St. Michael's" to get a seemingly objective news report "Ambrozic under fire" published in the April 7, 2004, student newspaper The Mike. They rehashed the story of the Cardinal not conferring the Ph.D. degree on Sister Cathro for her thesis on lesbianism lesbianism: see homosexuality.
lesbianism
also called sapphism or female homosexuality,

the quality or state of intense emotional and usually erotic attraction of a woman to another woman.
in which she rejects Catholic teaching (see C.I., April 2004, pp. 31-32). Then they draw attention to q@SMC's "protests" and "concerns" about the lack of "greater inclusiveness in the Archdiocese."

The strategy seems clear; first get established in the University of Toronto Research at the University of Toronto has been responsible for the world's first electronic heart pacemaker, artificial larynx, single-lung transplant, nerve transplant, artificial pancreas, chemical laser, G-suit, the first practical electron microscope, the first cloning of T-cells, ; then penetrate into its affiliated Catholic College; from there demand further "rights" in the Archdiocese of Toronto under threat of Ontario's Human Rights Code.
