Both of SMC's new WiFi phone accessories offer users a great way to store and charge their SMC WiFi phones conveniently in the home or office. Their sleek, compact design makes the SMCDPCR WiFi phone charger and the SMCDPCR-AP WiFi phone charger with built-in 802.11g wireless access point perfect for keeping WiFi phones charged and ready on the desktop. An LED on the front of each tells users that the phone is properly seated in the cradle and charging, and additional LEDs on the SMCDPCR-AP indicate the presence of LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  and Internet signals.

The functionality of the SMCDPCR-AP serves double-duty: as a charger/cradle, it keeps the phone charged and ready; and the 10/100Mb Ethernet port on the back of the device turns it into an 802.11g access point, so that users have a close-by and optimal signal for VoIP calling and nearby wireless clients can access the network through it as well. To ensure optimal performance for voice calls over the Internet while still serving regular clients, the SMCDPCR-AP has two SSID's: one just for VoIP calls, and the other for regular wireless clients. And, a quick and easy setup wizard and easy-to-use Web-based management combined with industry-leading WPA WPA: see Work Projects Administration.

Convenience increases use, and the new SMCDPCR WiFi phone cradle and SMCDPCR WiFi phone cradle/access point make SMC's WiFi phone even more convenient to use: keeping it charged and ready, and even providing a nearby 802.11g signal. The more its used, the more its users save: SMC's Wireless Internet mobile phone (WSKP WSKP Wireless Skype 100) includes Skype[TM] software that allows free calls to Skype users anywhere in the world and enables users to call ordinary landlines and mobile phones using SkypeOut[TM] at a very low cost.
