SMARTTRUST AND AU-SYSTEM DEBUT MOBILE E-SERVICES SOLUTION.

SmartTrust and AU-System, a mobile Internet consultancy, have developed a solution designed to cut the time-to-market for mobile operators looking to deploy mobile e-services.

Built around SmartTrust's Wireless Internet Gateway (WIG) technology, and using pre-built applications, including 'ready-to-launch' news, weather, information and commercial services, operators will be able to immediately leverage service revenues by reducing delivery time to just six weeks.

"Mobile operators are increasingly keen to leverage the growing market for information-based services," explains Anders Sellin, product manager, at Sonera SmartTrust Ltd. "However, after negotiating with content providers and application developers it can be some time before they are in a position to launch their services. Using our Wireless Internet Gateway technology, AU-System's solution suite speeds up time to market and reduces the investment required to launch new mobile e-services."

The suite provides immediate access to some of the more popular services, such as news and weather, and also offers a template for the development of secure, bespoke applications targeted at specific customer groups; for example mobile banking and stock trading.

Operator customers will benefit from a pre-implementation workshop, live testing and continuing project management and maintenance. They will also be able to target their entire subscriber-base thanks to pioneering technology from SmartTrust that allows them to deliver Internet-originated content to current generation SAT+2 handsets as well as WAP phones.

"Combined with SmartTrust's Wireless Internet Gateway software, which makes the delivery of WML (wireless mark-up language) to both WAP and current generation SAT+2 handsets possible, we can allow customers to trial secure mobile e-services and qualify interest amongst the subscriber base with minimal investment. Our offer comprises everything from content providers to unique SIM trials. Beyond that, operators are left with a complete framework from which they can build their own, more targeted applications," adds Hakan Persson, Business Area Manager, Operators, at AU-System.

AU-System will join SmartTrust partners at two one-day seminars, in Stockholm on September 4 and in London on September 14, on how to begin offering mobile e-services immediately, to existing mobile subscribers. Registration information and further details regarding dates, locations and agenda can be found at: http://www.touchingthefuture.com.
