SMART SHUTTLE ADDS NEW ROUTES.

Starting today the West Valley Smart Shuttle will add new routes, providing regular connections to both the Northridge and Chatsworth Metrolink stations and will start serving portions of Porter Ranch, north of the Ronald Reagan Freeway.

The additional routes for the Smart Shuttle service were made possible by new funding from the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the city of Los Angeles

The City of Los Angeles was a streamlined passenger train jointly operated by the Chicago and North Western Railway and the Union Pacific Railroad.
 Department of Transportation, officials said.

``This new system of interconnecting routes will allow us to serve a greater number of West Valley residents with regular connections to many of the places people want to go,'' said Dave Daley, West Valley Smart Shuttle's general manager.

Some of the spots along the route for the Smart Shuttle East-West Valley connection include the Fallbrook Mall, the West Hills Medical Center, West Valley Jewish Community Center, Topanga Plaza, The Promenade at Woodland Hills, The Trillium, Pierce College In 2006 the Library won a national Excellence award. Academics
Pierce College offers associate's degrees, mainly in the arts and sciences. There are also certificate programs in early childhood education, social services, dental hygienist, and others.
, West Valley Occupational Center, Reseda Recreation Center and Reseda High School Reseda High School, established in 1955, is located in the Reseda section of Los Angeles, California, United States.

The current principal of Reseda High is Alfredo Tarin. The mascot of Reseda High is the Regent, a lion welding a crown and a scepter.

Stops along the route for the Smart Shuttle Northridge connection include the Northridge Fashion Center Northridge Fashion Center is a large shopping mall located in Northridge, California. It opened in 1971. It was severely damaged during the Northridge Earthquake in 1994, but renovated extensively in 1995 and 1998. ; the Reseda Boulevard Business District; California State University, Northridge CSUN offers a variety of programs leading to bachelor's degrees in 61 fields and master's degrees in 42 fields. The university has over 150,000 alumni. It's also home to a summer musical theater/theater program known as TADW (TeenAge Drama Workshop) that leads teenagers through an ; and the Wilkinson Senior Center.

The Smart Shuttle program was started in 1997 as an experiment intended to fill a low-cost niche somewhere between a taxi and a large bus. The Smart Shuttle vehicles are like large vans or small buses.

Passengers may obtain route and fare information about the West Valley Smart Shuttle and make reservations for personalized service by calling (818) 678-0450 between 5:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays.

Passengers also may catch the West Valley Smart Shuttle by going to the nearest MTA (1) (Message Transfer Agent or Mail Transfer Agent) The store and forward part of a messaging system. See messaging system.

The vans operate between 6:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Regular Smart Shuttle fares for one-way trips range from $1 to $4, depending on the type of service and the distance. There is an additional charge of 75 cents for off-line pickups requiring customized routing. There is an additional charge for transfers.
