SMALL SCREEN THE BUZZ ON TELEVISION.Byline: - Compiled by Valerie Kuklenski CARTMAN'S GOOD DEED: Eric Cartman has a problem. Once again, the ``South Park'' character finds himself highly ranked on Santa Claus' naughty list just a couple of weeks before Christmas, and he's in a heck of a hurry to redeem himself. He strikes a deal with Santa for the jolly one to deliver Cartman's homemade gifts to less fortunate kids in Iraq. The deed backfires when Santa's sleigh sleigh: see sled. is shot down. Look for the happy ending, ``South Park''-style, in Wednesday's holiday episode. Cartman is doing another good deed this season that should have only good results. Creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker have put the framed, signed original Cartman construction paper art up for auction on eBay. The bidding already was at $5,600 at midday Monday and continues through Thursday. All proceeds are going to San Francisco's Exploratorium, a hands-on museum of science art aimed at encouraging kids' interest in science. SOUTH PARK, 10 p.m. Wednesday, Comedy Central. Q UP: For trekkers champing at the bit over Friday's theatrical opening of ``Star Trek TNN The Nashville Network (now The National Network) TNN The Nerd Network (online gaming clan) has put together a villain marathon of ``Star Trek: The Next Generation'' episodes, hosted by Patrick ``Captain Picard'' Stewart himself. The evil Q figures prominently in several of them, including tonight's ``Hide and Q.'' The marathon runs nightly from 8 p.m. to midnight through Friday. In conjunction with it, TNN has put together an online sweepstakes (see www.thenewtnn.com) with a pretty cool prize package, even if you aren't a geek A technically oriented person. It has typically implied a "nerdy" or "weird" personality, someone with limited social skills who likes to tinker with scientific or high-tech projects. The origin of the term dates back to the late 1800s. with a pocket protector A pocket protector is a sheath designed to hold writing instruments and other small implements, such as slide rules, while preventing them from damaging the wearer's shirt (e.g., by tearing or staining by a leaky pen). and tape holding your glasses together: The winner gets a three-day trip to the Kennedy Space Center Kennedy Space Center (Cape Canaveral) U.S. launch site for manned space missions. GOAL-ORIENTED GAME: Remember when ``Jeopardy!'' wasn't the only game show that required a modicum mod·i·cum n. pl. mod·i·cums or mod·i·ca A small, moderate, or token amount: "England still expects a modicum of eccentricity in its artists" Ian Jack. of intelligence from its contestants? ``WinTuition,'' debuting this week on the Game Show Network, doesn't strain the brain as much as ``Jeopardy!'' might, but it does at least demand that the adult contestants exercise theirs. Questions cover the entire educational spectrum, from first grade through senior year of high school. Believe it or not, in the first episode the players actually blew the first-grade question (yeah, we know, it's been awhile), but they generally do better as the queries get tougher. You have to respect the fact that the prize money (up to $50,000 but usually much less) goes toward paying college tuition for the player or a designated (and lucky) loved one. The selections posted at www.americanmusicawards.com are: Ashanti, Creed, Dixie Chicks, Eminem, Enrique Iglesias and Nelly. You can vote through Jan. 13, when the awards show airs on ABC ABC in full American Broadcasting Co. Major U.S. television network. It began when the expanding national radio network NBC split into the separate Red and Blue networks in 1928. with the Osbournes as hosts. Hard to say what the big difference is between a Fans' Choice award and the rest of the honors, given that those are determined by a poll of the American music-buying public. By the way, unlike in legendary Chicago politics, there is no point here in trying to vote early and often. The system accepts only one vote per e-mail address.
