SMALL SCREEN THE BUZZ ON TELEVISION.

Byline: - Compiled by Valerie Kuklenski

IF A STRANGER KNOCKS: A few lucky Los Angeles-area residents found at home today and Tuesday will get to go on a big-ticket shopping spree - without the jaw-dropping credit card statements that usually arrive a month later. WE: Women's Entertainment is starting production on ``Spend It Fast,'' which seems to have its roots in the old ``Supermarket Sweep'' show. The contestants will be picked up in a limousine and taken to a high-end store - perhaps Bloomingdale's or Linens-n-Things - and challenged to spend thousands of dollars in a limited amount of time. There's a catch, though. If the spend-happy shopper exceeds her budget, the designer shoes, evening wear, coats or whatever go back to the store. And the shopper, we suppose, goes back to rifling the sale racks at Loehmann's and Nordstrom Rack.

DIANA'S DESTINY: E!'s weeklong ``Royalty A-Z'' series tonight looks at the car crash that claimed Princess Diana's life five years ago this month, and the legacy she left.
