SMALL SCREEN THE BUZZ ON TELEVISION.

Byline: - Compiled by Valerie Kuklenski

LIFE AFTER 'IDOL': Kimberly Caldwell, the blond Texan stuck somewhere between Eminem and Faith Hill on the music spectrum, was voted off ``American Idol'' just two weeks ago, and she's already landing on her chunky-heeled boots. Caldwell is joining Fox Sports Net's ``54321,'' which specializes in extreme sports. Caldwell's assignment has little need for kneepads and helmets. She will make her debut Friday at the Hollywood premiere of ``X2,'' and she'll take viewers behind the scenes of other entertainment happenings that have an extreme sports angle. (Of course, some would argue that the entertainment industry itself is an extreme sport.)

54321, 5:30 p.m. weekdays, Fox Sports Net.

JAMIE DOES TEXAS: For the season finale of ``The Jamie Kennedy Experiment,'' the host went under cover in Austin, Texas, to stir things up. One segment has him as a security guard outside a nightclub who is so intent on protecting the place that he nearly strip-searches a patron, while in another Kennedy poses as a producer of a video titled ``Guys Gone Nuts,'' whose unwitting stars learn it's not being marketed to women after all.

THE JAMIE KENNEDY EXPERIMENT, 9 tonight, The WB, Channel 5.

GAME OF LOVE: NBC appears to be trumping its ``Today'' show annual ritual of planning a wedding and marrying a couple on the air. ``Race to the Altar,'' a reality game for engaged couples, goes into production this weekend and will air in the summer. The prize? An amazing on-air wedding executed by party planner extraordinaire Colin Cowie.

MANY REALITY SHOWS ...: ... so little time. It was bound to happen eventually: Two networks are holding casting calls at the same time this weekend. Debbie Allen is seeking singers, dancers and rappers (PG-13 only) for NBC's ``Fame,'' which includes an on-air ``boot camp'' with Allen. Wanna-bes 16 and up should go to the www.nbc.com site for the song list and application - and show up 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Wadsworth Theatre, 11301 Wilshire Blvd., Building 226, Los Angeles (on the grounds of the Veterans Administration complex). If your talent tends more toward hanging out at a fabulous resort, then you could be considered for Fox's ``Paradise Hotel,'' a cross between a studio game show and a reality show. Producers are looking for single men and women, ages 21 to 30, who are ``full of personality.'' Details are available at www.fox.com/paradisehotel, or by calling (800) 813-2278. Auditions are set for noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at 1918 W. Magnolia Blvd., Suite 206, in Burbank.
