SMALL SCREEN THE BUZZ ON TELEVISION.

Byline: - Compiled by Valerie Kuklenski

IDOL TIME: Hey, all you idol wanna-bes, listen up: 8 a.m. Monday is the final open call for the next season of Fox's ``American Idol.'' Gate A of the Rose Bowl in Pasadena is the place, and contestants are allowed to line up as early as 8 tonight - for those who think they'll sing really well after two nights of sleeping on asphalt in damp night air. Recording novices only, please, ages 16 to 24. Bring two proofs of age - license and passport, for instance - and proof of legal U.S. residency. All the pertinent information is on www.idolonfox.com.

'TIS THE SEASON: The decorations are out in the malls, the catalogs are clogging our mailboxes, and the gift baskets are in the markets. Why wait for Thanksgiving to kick off the holidays? In that spirit, Adam Sandler returns to his ``Saturday Night Live'' stomping grounds tonight as a guest star to push his seasonal comedy, ``Adam Sandler's 8 Crazy Nights,'' and to debut ``Chanukah Song 3.'' Brittany Murphy of ``8 Mile'' is the host and Nelly is the music act.

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE This article is about the American television series. For the show related to Big Brother (UK), see Saturday Night Live (UK).

BONDING AT HOME: For some reason, TV specials with obscure links to the James Bond franchise are crawling out of the woodwork in anticipation of ``Die Another Day,'' opening next weekend. On Sunday, HGTV HGTV Home and Garden Television  does its part with ``Zip Code 007,'' a TV tour of homes of a few of the co-stars from four decades of Bond movies.
