SMALL BUSINESS GUIDE TO THE FAMILY AND MEDICAL LEAVE ACT

WASHINGTON, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Find out what employers must do to comply with the new Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). The Small Business Legislative Council (SBLC) has released a 360-page compliance guide to assist businesses in determining what their responsibilities are under this new law.
"While very small businesses are exempt, many growing small businesses will find that their responsibilities under the FMLA will be constantly changing as they grow' their business. I believe they will find our guide a handy reference," said H. Ted Olson, chairman of the SBLC.
Olson continued: "Our view is Let's get on with it.' The law has passed. We do not like the idea of mandates, but if there is one thing about successful growing businesses it is that they adapt to adverse conditions."
Olson concluded: "With this law behind us, let's channel our collective energies towards economic recovery, deficit reduction and health care reform. It sounds to us President Clinton has some good ideas on these subjects. Let's move on to those issues and see if we can find some common ground to get our economy and the small business job creation engine going again."
The SBLC "Compliance Guide to the Family and Medical Leave Act" is available for $15 plus $2 for postage and handling. Orders must be prepaid.
The SBLC is a permanent, independent coalition of nearly 100 trade and professional associations that share a common commitment to the future of small business. Our members represent the interests of small businesses in such diverse economic sectors as manufacturing, retailing, distribution, professional and technical services, construction, transportation and agriculture.
