Oyster fanciers don't have a wealth of restaurants to choose from in the San Fernando Valley.

One that consistently carries a respectable selection of freshly shucked raw oysters is King's Fish House, 4798 Commons Way, Calabasas.

At a recent visit there were half a dozen offerings priced at either $9.95 or $11.95 per half dozen.

From Puget Sound, Wash., came a trio of $9.95 offerings: Sunset Beach, Chef's Creek and Hama Hama. At the same price there were local Southern California oysters called Carlsbad Blonde, obviously from Carlsbad.

The two at $11.95 were the popular Malpecques from Prince Edward Island in Canada and the lovely little Kumamotos, also from Puget Sound.

For a twosome, the best way to order oysters at King's is to ask for a sampler ($21.90), which gets you two of each on ice, a handsome presentation.
