The guy who brought us Chuck E. Cheese is opening a novel eating/interactive entertainment and cocktails spot in Woodland Hills called uWink Bistro.

Set for a debut later this month, uWink is located at 6100 Topanga Canyon Blvd., above Maggiano's in the former Reata space in the Westfield Promenade.

The founder of Chuck E. Cheese and former CEO of Atari, Nolan Bushnell, has developed a concept for grownups described as ``an interactive social restaurant where at-the-table touch screens let you be in control of your meal and your fun.''

Salads, sandwiches, appetizers, pizzas, pastas, build-your-own burgers, build-your-own entree plates and shareable desserts will be featured on the menu.

CLOSED ... FOR NOW: Is it remodeling or what?

Maximilian's, 11330 Weddington St., North Hollywood, the fancy, iron-gated restaurant complex in the NoHo Arts District with the highly rated French kitchen, has been shuttered for a few weeks, sporting remodeling signs.

But the recorded phone message answer indicates the place is closed to allow staffers a well-deserved vacation.

Meanwhile, a voicemail reply from an unidentified Maximilian's spokesman said they were considering expansion and ``trying to figure out how to handle the crowds here ... how to accommodate them.''

It seems that Maximilian's may eventually reopen.
