SLUG Queens to visit ArtWalk.

Byline: The Register-Guard

George Evano, Oregon Bach Festival director of communications, will host the ArtWalk that will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday at DIVA (Downtown Initiative for the Visual Arts), 110 W. Broadway.

Sponsored by the Lane Arts Council, the First Friday ArtWalk is a free monthly walking tour of galleries and visual arts attractions.

The second stop on the tour, 76 W. Broadway, will be a SLUG Queen Surprise featuring what's being billed as memorabilia from the late SLUG Queen Bagonda and surprise performance art by current SLUG Queen Inspira and ``Old SLUG Queens.'' The SLUG Queen, for those new to the community, is a traditional part of the annual Eugene Celebration.

The Circle of Hands Inner Circle Gallery, 1030 Willamette St., and the Fenario Gallery, 507 Willamette St., are the other stops on the tour, expected to conclude about 7:30 p.m.

The Circle of Hands features handcrafted tuned wind chimes and the poetry of artist Debra Mathis. The Fenario Gallery will celebrate its grand opening with artwork by Jerry Garcia and fused glass from local artists.
