:SL) Friday announced that Alan Pelan has been named to the position of president, SL Montevideo Technology Inc. ("SL-MTI"), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SL based in Montevideo, Minn.

Pelan replaces Jim Folk, who resigned as president of SL-MTI in March of 1999.

Pelan joins SL-MTI after working for Invensys PLC since 1990. Most recently, he was president of Fractional Horsepower Motors in the AC Motors/Blowers Division of Fasco Motors, and before that he served as president of Airflow Co., Fredrick, Md.; Harowe Servo An electromechanical device that uses feedback to provide precise starts and stops for such functions as the motors on a tape drive or the moving of an access arm on a disk.  Controls Inc., Westchester, Pa.; and Haskon Corp., Taunton, Mass., all of which are operating units operating unit

Pelan received a B.S. in accounting from Clark University Clark University, at Worcester, Mass.; coeducational; chartered 1887, opened as a graduate school 1889. It was the second graduate school to be formed in the United States. Its undergraduate college (est. 1902) was integrated with the university in 1920.  in 1969, and an M.B.A. in management from Bryant College in 1977.
