Ski Sunrise originated in the 1940s along with other regional resorts such as Mount Waterman Mount Waterman is a ski area on Waterman Mountain in the San Gabriel Mountains (Angeles National Forest) of Los Angeles County, California. It is located on the State Route 2, the Angeles Crest Highway. It reaches a height of 8,030 feet, has an overall vertical drop of 1,030 feet. , Krakta Ridge and Blue Ridge Blue Ridge, eastern range of the Appalachian Mts., extending south from S Pa. to N Ga.; highest mountains in the E United States. During its heyday in the 1960s and 1970s the area was considered a local favorite, but it has seen limited success lately due to high management turnover and the lack of any capital investment. Of the 100 usable acres, the majority will be dedicated to teaching terrain for children and beginners. This will include a large instructional area and family fun zones with small bumps, rollers and obstacles to make learning fun. In addition, the resort plans to install a 10-acre snow-play facility. Proposed summertime activities include a restaurant, disc golf, catered events and other promotions. At the earliest, Mountain High North will be open for business in the summer of 2005, with winter operations commencing later that fall, the company said. |
