SKI SEASON AT WHISTLER RESORT IS JUST DAYS AWAY!

WHISTLER, British Columbia, Nov. 23 ~PRNewswire~ -- Whistler Resort's 1992~93 Ski Season is off to a great start with a snowfall of approximately 38 inches over the past several days. Blackcomb Mountain opened Sunday, Nov. 22 for pre-season skiing and presently has 4 lifts in operation, and 16 runs open on a combination of natural and man made snow. Extensive snowmaking is in full operation which will enable additional runs to open as the week progresses. Whistler Mountain will open on Wednesday, Nov. 25. Visibility is unlimited under clear skies, with light winds.
The 1992~93 winter ski season promises to be one of the best seasons yet. Snow Country Magazine rated Whistler~Blackcomb the No. 1 Ski Resort in North America, with Whistler~Blackcomb edging out Vail, Colo. for the number one spot in Snow Country's ranking of the Top-50 Ski Resorts. This is the first time a ski area other than Vail is No. 1 one since the magazine began rating resorts.
This winter, skiers will experience Blackcomb's spectacular new high-speed quad chair, The Glacier Express. The new Glacier Express will bring Blackcomb's total lift capacity to 26,400 skiers per hour, and will provide skiers with greater access to the high alpine terrain on Blackcomb Mountain. The Glacier Express will also reduce turnaround time to Blackcomb Glacier by more than 50 percent.
Skiers will also notice some exciting changes at Whistler Mountain this winter with five kilometers of new trails covering 25 1~2 acres. Skiers on Whistler Mountain will enjoy increased access to the Whistler Creek side terrain serviced by the Quicksilver and Redline Express quad lifts installed in 1991. Whistler's new trails and improved runs will dramatically advance the skiing in the upper Creek side area, one of Whistler's most popular regions, which is serviced by the Redline Express.
Both Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains will officially open Nov. 26.
