SINGING COWBOY RETURNS TO PALMDALE CONCERT BENEFITS NEEDY FAMILIES.

PALMDALE - After a two-year hiatus, the return to Palmdale of Michael Martin Michael Martin may refer to:
  • Michael Martin (politician) (born 1945), the Speaker of the House of Commons in the United Kingdom
  • Michael Martin (philosopher) (born 1932), professor emeritus of philosophy at Boston University
 Murphey's Cowboy Christmas Ball raised $25,686 and collected 300 pounds of food to help local needy families.

Nearly 200 people dined, danced and listened to Murphey's music Sept. 23 in the Chimbole Cultural Center. The money was raised through sponsorships, a live auction and ticket sales.

``This was a wonderful way to start the holiday season,'' said Dea McAllister, cultural arts/theater manager. ``When guests left, they felt good. They gave their money, food, and still enjoyed a fantastic evening of entertainment.''

The money raised will be used to support the Palmdale Visual and Performing Arts Programs, which include the youth and community choir, orchestra and dance programs, writers' round table, visual arts visual arts nplartes fpl plásticas

 group, and the Palmdale City Players youth and adult divisions.
