SIMI WINS EVEN WITH BERUMEN SITTING.

It hardly mattered as Simi Valley rolled to a 76-50 victory against North Hollywood in the first round of the 13th annual Simi Valley Tip-Off Classic.

Ian Boys filled in at center and Brett Michel Michel

``It was a simple rule he broke, and we have to follow them,'' Bradshaw said. ``Rafael handled it well. He'll be back in there (tonight).''

The absence of Berumen and the quickness of the Huskies caused problems early as the Pioneers (1-0) trailed after one quarter 13-10.

The guys have practiced the whole time with Rafael in there, so it took a little time to adjust.''

Said Boys: ``I think I did OK. I just tried to get some boards and do what I was supposed to do.''

Simi Valley, which didn't score in the first few minutes of the game, asserted itself in the second quarter, taking a 30-26 halftime lead and then steadily pulling away in the second half.
