Hundreds of firefighters fought the blaze, including some who had been working on the Moorpark-area Shekell Fire nearby. ``It was a close call. There were firefighters all over the hills attacking the flames,'' said Jennie Ross, a nearby resident. ``They saved the houses. Our Fire Department is awesome.''
