SIMI VALLEY: BRIEFLY : SUSPECT FACES RETRIAL IN CHILD MOLESTATION.

Diaz pleaded guilty in October 1994 and was the first person in the county sentenced under California's ``three strikes'' law when he received a term of 25 years to life plus six years. The 2nd District Court of Appeal in January reversed the sentence and ruled that the judge at the time also was required to impose three additional five-year prison terms stemming from three prior robbery convictions Noun 1. robbery conviction - conviction for robbery

. The appellate ruling stated that Diaz should have been allowed to withdraw his guilty plea before the sentencing in 1994.

Violinists to perform for children at library

SIMI VALLEY - The violin students of Barbara Poehls will be featured in a special children's program at the Simi Valley Library today called ``Tunes and Tales.''

Classics like ``Tale of Peter Rabbit'' and ``Little Red Hen'' will be presented. Poehls performs locally with several local orchestras and is a story-time volunteer at the library.

The program begins at 1 p.m. in the library community room, 2969 Tapo Canyon Road.

Health workshops planned for women

SIMI VALLEY - An afternoon for women on matters of life and health is planned to take place from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Rancho Santa Susana Santa Susana can refer to several places:

Meeting scheduled for older workers

An orientation workshop is scheduled for the county's 55-plus Job Club, formerly the Older Worker Program, from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Government Center, 800 S. Victoria Ave., Ventura. The meeting will be held in the fourth-floor training room of the Administration Building.

The program is administered by the Work Force Development Division of the county's Personnel Department and assists older workers by assessing job skills and training. The goal is to upgrade employment potential. Call 654-3361.
