SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  - The city is accepting applications from residents who want to serve as neighborhood council executive board members.

Neighborhood councils Neighborhood councils are governmental or non-governmental bodies composed of local people who handle neighborhood problems. They can be found in many cities throughout the world.  meet on a monthly basis to review various issues of community concern within their respective boundaries, and they advise the City Council.

Typical issues include local property development, public health and safety, traffic and environmental matters.

Applicants must be at least 18 and residents of Simi Valley.

Applications must be submitted no later than May 17. For applications or more information, call Mark Oyler at 583-6756.

Admission to the library and museum located at 40 Presidential Drive in Simi Valley is $4 for adults, $2 for senior citizens, and free for children younger than 16. The library is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
