SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  - The Simi Valley MOMS Club MOMS Club is a support group for stay-at-home moms. MOMS is an acronym for Moms Offering Moms Support. History
MOMS Club was founded in 1983 by Mary James, a stay-at-home mother of two from California.
 will host a benefit from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Joe-Joe's Brewing Co. and Restaurant to raise money for Ajay Hill and his family.

Hill, a 39-year-old construction worker who moved with his wife and infant daughter to Simi Valley in 1995, was diagnosed with brain cancer earlier this year. After he underwent brain surgery in May, members of Simi Valley MOMS, Moms Offering Moms Support, have delivered meals, bought groceries and helped baby-sit for the young family.

Money raised in the benefit will go toward utilities and household expenses. Joe-Joe's is located at 1397 E. Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Ave. Call (805) 581-4337 for information.

Children's troupe to perform show

SIMI VALLEY - The Gypsies in a Trunk troupe will present ``Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs'' at 5 and 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Rancho Simi Rancho San José de Nuestra Senora de Altagarcia y Simi is one of the land grants in California by the Spanish government. The name derives from Shimiji, the name of the Chumash village here before the Spanish.  Amphitheatre at the corner of Erringer Road and Royal Ave.

The cast of this production is youths age 6 years and older from the Simi Valley and Moorpark areas. Seating is on a first come basis and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and snacks.

Event set to honor elected officials

VENTURA - The League of Women Voters League of Women Voters, voluntary public service organization of U.S. citizens. Organized in 1920 in Chicago as an outgrowth of the National American Woman Suffrage Association, it had as its original nucleus the leaders of the latter organization.  Ventura County invites citizens to meet with county supervisors at a Celebration of Elective Public Office from 3 to 5 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Ventura College Ventura College is a California-state funded community college located in Ventura, California. Established in 1925, the college has a 112-acre campus with an enrollment of 13,000 students. The college is part of the Ventura County Community College District.  Faculty Lounge.

Light refreshments will be served and tickets are $10, with proceeds from the reception going to the league's Voter Education Fund. A brief program by the supervisors highlighting memorable experiences is planned and also a special recognition program for retiring Supervisor Maggie Kildee.
