 Catholic Church will host an ``Old-Fashioned Chicken Dinner'' on Sunday to benefit ARC and OASIS of Simi Valley.

The Association for Retarded Citizens provides training and employment for the mentally disabled mentally disabled See Cognitively impaired. , and the Older Adults Services and Intervention System offers a wide range of services for the elderly.

The dinner will be served from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the St. Rose of Lima parish hall, 1305 Royal Ave. The cost is $5.95 for adults and $3.95 for children 12 and under.

Volunteers sought for science fair

VENTURA - Volunteers, judges and sponsors are needed for the 1996 Ventura County Science Fair scheduled for Tuesday through April 25 at the Ventura County Fairgrounds n. pl. 1. same as fairground. .

Chairman Dennis Lang said there are 810 projects this year entered by 840 students. The theme this year is ``The Amazing a·maze  
v. a·mazed, a·maz·ing, a·maz·es

 Wonders of Science.''

Volunteer judges are in demand, particularly in the medical and botany botany, science devoted to the study of plants. Botany, microbiology, and zoology together compose the science of biology. Humanity's earliest concern with plants was with their practical uses, i.e., for fuel, clothing, shelter, and, particularly, food and drugs.  categories. Adults with backgrounds in science or teaching are encouraged to participate. Judges will review projects April 24.

Also, Lang said sponsors are needed to donate money to cover the cost of the fair. A $12 donation sponsors the cost of one student. For more information, call (805) 388-4411.

Briefings offered on school program

NEWBURY PARK - Newbury Park High School has scheduled two informational meetings for parents interested in the high school's new International Baccalaureate Program.

Meetings will be held Thursday and April 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the school's library conference room, where the two-year program for juniors and seniors will be outlined for parents.

Students in the program will complete core classes in English, history, math, science and social sciences, then be tested in the subject areas with standardized standardized

Concert will mark school anniversary

THOUSAND OAKS Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  - Christian Preschool & Kindergarten will sponsor a free children's concert from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 25 to celebrate the school's 30th anniversary.
