SIMI VALLEY: BRIEFLY : ALTERNATE SOUGHT FOR COUNTY PANEL.


SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  - The city is seeking applications from Simi Valley residents who want to serve as its alternate member on the Ventura County Transportation Commission's Citizens Transportation Advisory Committee.

CTAC Customer Technical Assistance Center (Sprint)
CTAC Center for Army Tactics
CTAC Carlsbad Field Office Technical Assistance Contractor
 develops and votes on recommendations to the Ventura County Transportation Commission regarding countywide funding for bike paths, transit grants and other transportation-related infrastructure.

Meetings are held at 1:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month at the Ventura County Government Center in Ventura.

Satwiwa center to hold story day

NEWBURY PARK - The Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area: see National Parks and Monuments (table).  and Friends of Satwiwa will hold a video storytelling screening from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Satwiwa Native American Indian American Indian

Any member of the various aboriginal peoples of the Western Hemisphere, with the exception of the Eskimos (Inuit) and the Aleuts.
 Culture Center in Newbury Park.

Kat High will present a series of videos and lead a brief discussion after each. Presentations include ``The Creation of the World'' and ``A Matter of Respect'' at 10 a.m.; ``Why the Crow is Black'' and ``Apache Mountain Spirits'' at 11:30 a.m.; ``How the Fox Earned His Name,'' Reaffirmation and Discovery: The First Powwow on Hawaii'' and ``Why the Crow is Black'' at 1:30 p.m.; and ``The Creation of the World'' and ``Wiping the Tears of Seven Generations'' at 3 p.m.

The center is at Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa. The entrance to the park is at Potrero and Pinehill roads. The culture center is a quarter-mile walk from the parking lot. For more information, call (818) 597-9192.

 drops charge for second degrees

VENTURA - Duplicate-degree tuition has been eliminated throughout the California State University system California State University System, coordinating agency established in 1960 by the merger of individual California state colleges, now consisting of 23 campuses. , including the Ventura campus of Cal State Northridge.

Duplicate-degree tuition was instituted throughout the CSU system in the early 1990s in response to budget cuts that reduced the number of courses offered to students. The tuition program required students pursuing a second bachelor's or second master's degree or unclassified un·clas·si·fied

Fees for California residents to enroll at the Ventura Campus for fall will be $652 for part-time study and $985 for full-time study.
