needed much of a 90-minute hearing to read and pronounce sentences on each count against Victor Becerra. Jones said the lengthy prison term was warranted and that Becerra ``is and represents an extreme and exquisite danger to society.''

Citing the sentencing report from Ventura County probation officials, Jones said Becerra's crimes were planned and sophisticated. The judge said Becerra, 27, used an assumed name, misrepresented his age, and prowled for his victims at youth hangouts in Simi Valley.

``The crimes in all accounts disclosed a high degree of callousness and were committed for the defendant's selfish pleasure,'' Jones said.

Becerra appeared heavier and less confident in court Friday than he was throughout the six-day trial in March.

rather than the colorful sport coats and dark slacks he wore during the trial, Becerra asked ``the court for forgiveness'' and apologized to his victims.

``Once again, I want to say to the victims that I am sorry,'' Becerra said. ``I'm sorry, and I regret what I did.''

A jury convicted Becerra on 39 of 48 charges after hearing often painful testimony from 10 victims, all of Simi Valley and most half his age.

The victims testified they met Becerra at teen hangouts, including a bowling alley and an arcade, where the man they knew as R.B. or Ruben passed himself off as a 19- or 20-year-old. The girls acknowledged being enticed by the offer of alcohol and marijuana, but they said the sexual encounters were unwelcome and painful.

The trial began with testimony from two men who worked with Becerra at AutoShade Inc. in Moorpark. The co-workers testified Becerra bragged about sexual encounters with young girls. Both men also said they turned down invitations from Becerra to join him on lunchtime outings to drive by junior high schools looking for Looking for
