SIMI HIGH CAPTURES FIFTH PLACE IN STATE ACADEMIC DECATHLON.Byline: Daily News Simi Valley High's decathlon team won fifth place Sunday during California's 17th annual Academic Decathlon in Fresno. The nine-member team earned 44,112 points, of a total of 60,000. First place went to El Camino Real High School in Woodland Hills. Simi Valley High's Ventura County champions have been preparing for the event since last summer. This year's categories included comparative government, environmental science and micro- and macroeconomics Macroeconomics The field of economics that studies the behavior of the aggregate economy. Macroeconomics examines economy-wide phenomena such as changes in unemployment, national income, rate of growth, gross domestic product, inflation and price levels.Notes: Macroeconomics is focused on the movement and trends in the economy as a whole, while in microeconomics the focus is placed on factors that affect the decisions made by firms and individuals.. The students also were required to give a prepared speech and write an essay. The students included one junior and eight seniors: Nick Briggs, Greg Ishimoto, Chris Wagner, Jason Cohn, Evelyn Richards, Derek Schmidt, Michelle Artran, Laura Fults and April Mason. |
