Debbie Teasley increased her lead from 61 votes to 103 votes over incumbent Eloise Brown for the final Moorpark Council seat. ``I'm very delighted to be where I'm at. The count has been slower than in any previous general election because a record number of absentee ballots were cast and there are three times the normal number of provisional ballots. Di Fatta, who lost in her first attempt to win a school board seat two years ago, aligned herself with Julian and that might have helped her move past Sandland. ``It's been a tough week, to sit so close where it can literally go in either direction,'' Di Fatta said. The race for two council seats in Moorpark had been close with fewer than 450 votes separating the top three candidates following the Election Day count. But challenger Chris Evans has increased his lead in remaining at the top and Teasley moved further ahead of incumbent Brown for the final seat. Teasley had been cautious about her position following last week's count. Brown said she was not surprised voters might choose a challenger and was prepared to step down after completing an unexpired term on the council. |
