SILVER KING COMMUNICATIONS, INC. LEARNS OF POSTPONEMENT OF MUST-CARRY DECISION

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Silver King Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ Small Cap: SKTV) learned today that the Federal Communications Commission (the "FCC") had postponed its decision on the issue of whether home shopping stations are entitled to must- carry under the Cable Television Consumer Protection and Competition Act of 1992. SKTV understands that postponement of the home shopping/must- carry determination was pursuant to the request of FCC Commissioner Ervin Duggan.
Commissioner Duggan issued a statement today regarding this issue. In his statement, which was issued this morning, Commissioner Duggan expressed his view that the home shopping/must-carry issue obligated the FCC "to take serious measure of what it means to broadcast in the public interest." Under FCC broadcast regulations, SKTV has always been required to serve the public interest in order to secure and renew its broadcast licenses. It is SKTV's judgment that the programming it provides fully satisfies its obligation to meet the current public interest standard of the FCC.
SKTV owns and operates 12 independent full power UHF television broadcast stations which serve eight of the 12 largest television markets in the United States, including New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, and have an audience reach in excess of 27.5 million households.
