SII and Cybergraphic Form Worldwide Strategic Partnership; Next Generation System to Ship this Year.

SACRAMENTO, Calif./MELBOURNE, Australia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 24, 1996--System Integrators, Inc. (SII SII Servicio de Impuestos Internos (Chile)
SII Seiko Instruments, Inc.
SII Strong Interest Inventory
SII Standards Institution of Israel
SII Securities and Investment Institute (UK)
) and Cybergraphic Systems Pty Ltd (Cybergraphic) today announced a strategic long-term partnership agreement. The two companies, which have a combined forty year history of providing computer systems to the publishing industry, will distribute a new generation of systems incorporating core technology from Cybergraphic.

The Cybergraphic Genera family of products deliver an integrated Client-Server publishing system. The products are built with Object Oriented Microsoft technology (MFC/OCX) including a 32-bit Windows client, the Windows NT operating system and SQL Server relational database. Genera software is designed to run on any hardware server capable of supporting Windows NT. Today, Windows NT servers range from low cost Intel Pentium-based PC servers to multiprocessor clusters from Digital Equipment and NEC (NEC Corporation, Tokyo, www.nec.com, www.necus.com) An electronics conglomerate known in the U.S. for its monitors. In Japan, it had the lion's share of the PC market until the late 1990s (see PC 98).

NEC was founded in Tokyo in 1899 as Nippon Electric Company, Ltd.
. Such scalability means that Genera products can reach a broad market ranging from small weekly newspapers to larger circulation daily newspapers. For SII, the Genera products will complement its existing large scale System/66 product line which is based on Tandem Computers' NonStop architecture and is targeted at major newspapers with daily circulations above 100,000.

"This strategic partnership between two pioneers in the publishing arena is a natural fit. This is the rare strength-plus-strength scenario where SII with our large scale Tandem solutions combined with Cybergraphic's Genera products can deliver innovative publishing solutions to any size newspaper in all of the major markets," said Erika Williams, SII's chief executive officer. "The combination of Cybergraphic's Genera technology, Microsoft's Windows NT, SQL Server platforms and SII's market and Internet expertise is the kind of exciting new solution that the industry has been waiting for."

Under the agreement announced today, SII will sell, support and integrate Cybergraphic's Genera client-server publishing systems in North America, South America, Central America, Europe, the United Kingdom, the Middle East and South Africa. Cybergraphic will retain exclusive marketing rights in its home country of Australia as well as the New Zealand New Zealand (zē`lənd), island country (2005 est. pop. 4,035,000), 104,454 sq mi (270,534 sq km), in the S Pacific Ocean, over 1,000 mi (1,600 km) SE of Australia. Cybergraphic will continue to market and support its products in North America (through its wholly-owned subsidiary Cybergraphic Inc. of Burlington, Massachusetts) and the United Kingdom.
